ACM Expands Training Programme to Include an Introductory Module in Interactive Narrative.
The academy of converging media in Berlin: Training media professionals in content development for the new media.
This year, the academy of converging media is to expand its training programme to include a one-week introductory module on the subject of “Interactive Narrative”. The course, which runs from July 5 – 11, will look at the impact of interactivity on dramaturgy and narrative structure, focusing in particular on the development of interactive, single-user applications. Course participants will also receive an introduction to the history of the use of interactive narrative in the new media.
In addition, they will have an opportunity to study the role of the author and changes in viewer/user reception, discover how to design interaction paths, and learn how to structure information and develop corresponding interfaces.
The highly experienced trainers Simon Lovind and Michael Valeur will guide course participants through the complexities of nonlinear narrative forms, databased narration and interactive design. In turn, participants will be given ample opportunity to put into practice the theory they have learned.

The introductory module “Interactive Narrative” is aimed at European media professionals interested in the development of narrative content for the new media. The course is limited to 12 participants and costs €450.00. Applications are now being accepted.
